Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Erjavec signs »A Promise Renewed« pledge

Ljubljana, 7 November 2012 – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Erjavec signed “A Promise Renewed”, pledging Slovenia’s support to the global movement to end preventable child deaths. In his letter to the Executive Director of UNICEF, minister stressed his government’s strong support for issues related to well being of children, and highlighted very fruitful cooperation between Slovenia and UNICEF during Slovenia’s chairmanship of UNICEF Executive Board last year.

About “A Promise Renewed”

“A Promise Renewed”, initiated by UNICEF, builds on the fact, that for the first time in history, we have the available knowledge and technologies to reach the world’s most marginalized children with life-saving interventions, calling for action, to deliver on long-standing commitment to end preventable child deaths.

By working together with renewed determination, we can accelerate declines in child and maternal mortality, enabling more countries to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 4 and 5 by 2015 and sustaining the momentum well into the future.
