Ambassador Ĺ tiglic addresses the UN Security Council on Women and Peace and Security

 

New York, 17 December 2010 – Ambassador Sanja Štiglic, Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the United Nations spoke at the UN Security Council open debate on Women,Peace and Security and welcomed the adoption of the SC resolution 1960 (2010) on sexual violence.

Ambassador Ĺ tiglic stressed that in contemporary conflicts, sexual violence is not a side effect, but rather a front-line consideration. Civilians, mostly women and girls, are often deliberate targets of such violence.

Ambassador Ĺ tiglic also informed that a month ago Slovenia adopted the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 for the period 2010-2015.
