Dr. PetriÄ re-elected to the International Law Comission

 

New York, 17 November 2011 – H.E. Professor Dr Ernest PetriÄ, President of the Constitutional Court of Slovenia re-elected to the International Law Commission (ILC)

At UN Headquarters in New York, Slovenian candidate H.E. Professor Dr Ernest PetriÄ, President of the Constitutional Court of Slovenia, was convincingly re-elected today as a member of the International Law Commission (ILC) for the period 2012-2016.

H.E. Professor Dr Ernest PetriÄ was one of 4 candidates for three seats allocated to the Group of Eastern European States in the International Law Commission (ILC). He received 169 votes and was re-elected for another 5-year term.

The International Law Commission was established in 1948 and deals with codification and progressive development of International law. The Commission consists of 34 independent experts and holds its yearly session in Geneva.
