Between 17th and 21st October 2011, young volunteers introduced their world, which is significantly characterized by computers, to the older generation at different locations in Slovenia. Simbioz@ managed to connect the entire country, as over 8 000 people participated actively in the project.
We were motivated by last year’s participants, who expressed a strong wish for a repetition of the workshops, and also by the European Union, which named year 2012 as European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations, to once again undertake our project.
This year, Simbioz@ will be connecting Slovenia between 15th and 19th October, daily between 9-11 AM and 4-6 PM.
Simbioz@ has been recognized as a successful and innovative action abroad as well. Among other, it gained an important and remarkable European Citizen’s prize by the European Parliament. At Simbioz@, we acknowledge the fact that e-literacy among the older population is an important topic of discussion in today's world of ever changing information communication technology (ICT).
Under the honorary patronage of Mrs Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda for Europe, the European Commission, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Ypsilon Institute are organizing a conference entitled A new European perspective: The importance of e-skills for inclusion and employment. At the conference we will present this year‚Äôs project Simbioz@, speak about Slovenian e-technology field, inter-generational cooperation, good practices in Slovenia and abroad, our goals and future vision of Simbioz@. The conference will include a round table discussion about the Slovenian perspective on the digital agenda for inclusion and employment and speakers from various fields connected to e-skills. The conference will take place on Monday, 15th October 2012 at 11 AM at Faculty of Social Science, Kardeljeva ploŇ°ńćad 5, Ljubljana.
We would be honoured to welcome you during this time as a guest to the conference.
After conference you are kindly welcome to visit afternoon workshops across Slovenia. We are looking forward to your reply and hope, you will join us and help us connect Slovenia, bring happiness to the older generation and give invaluable experience to the young in the spirit of intergenerational cooperation.
