Dear guest, welcome to the website of the Permanent Mission of Slovenia to the United Nations.

Slovenia’s admission to the United Nations on 22 May 1992 is undoubtedly one of the milestones in Slovenia’s history. Since independence, Slovenia, together with other UN Member States, creatively and responsibly continues the mission and endeavours of democratic states and nations for better, just and peaceful world. Slovenia is committed to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. We are strong advocate of effective multilateralism and the reform of the UN, including the Security Council reform, to make it more efficient and transparent. Slovenia considers the United Nations the world’s most important instrument of multilateral cooperation and thus actively participates in its work in order to strengthen friendly relations between nations, enhance the respect for international law and human rights, and creates better living conditions for all.

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Slovenia to the UN in New York represents and promotes Slovenia’s interests in the UN. Our interlocutors in New York are the representatives of the other 191 UN Member States. We also maintain daily contact with representatives of the UN Secretariat and other UN bodies and specialized agencies.
